Barnsley Concert Band

Band History:

Barnsley Concert Band, Barnsley’s premier woodwind, brass and percussion ensemble, has been entertaining audiences of all ages for over 35 years at numerous concerts locally, nationwide and across Europe.

The band’s repertoire covers all major genres of music; Pop, Rock, Film, Theatre, Jazz, Marches, Light Classical and even Folk. The combination of instrument types within the group creates an exciting musical palette and delivers a vibrant listening experience.

As an experienced ensemble the band is always focused on delivering a high standard of concert performance and ensuring its members enjoy making good music for its audiences. Off stage the group’s strong team spirit and family atmosphere, developed over many years, continues to be nurtured by regular social events and activities.

Band members range in age from 13 to nearly 80. Some are still studying music at school or college and a few are professional musicians; however the majority are highly capable, enthusiastic amateurs who welcome this opportunity to have fun refining their playing skills in their spare time.
